AUSTIN — State championship football games will have predetermined sites in all Texas high school classifications starting next year.

The University Interscholastic League’s Legislative Council voted Monday to have fixed sites in classes 1A through 4A. The state’s largest classification, 5A, is in the third year of having both title games at the same site.

Below 5A, coaches still determine championship game sites either by mutual agreement or a coin flip, just as they do through each round of the playoffs.

AUSTIN --- The UIL has announced the five Texas Dodge Dealers Lone Star Cup winners for the 2008-09 season.

With three state championships during the 2008-09 season, Conroe The Woodlands has captured its third Class 5A Lone Star Cup in four years. The Woodlands won state titles in boys and girls cross country and girls swimming and diving as well as made lengthy playoff runs in boys and girls soccer.
